UNIT3 PROPOSAL
In the final exhibition, I wanted to create an atmosphere of images and a large number of ready-made installations, where performances could be performed and the audience could immerse themselves in various interactions with my work.
Inspired by the visual language of Chinese traditional old society films by Director Zhang Yimou (as shown in the background section), I will combine my existing sculptures and ready-made products with strong cultural symbols with new media, which will create an unusual atmosphere of cross-temporal dialogue. Then I will separate the installation from the audience with a bunch of gauze curtains. All of my sculptures based on feet are on the floor all around the installation, facing the screen in a consistent direction. When the audience faces the screen, they will confront these sculptures and become part of the complete expression of the work. I hope that the expected performance effect can be presented in the final exhibition after arrangement with the course instructor and exhibition hall.
I also plan to set up a small Gopro on the installation to record the audience's participation in the exhibition in the form of photographic records.
My current plan is to make a large number of ceramic foot sculptures out of silica gel and keep them hollow inside. A layer of wax is added to the surface of these ceramic sculptures to create a flowing visual effect. The purpose of my design of this space installation is not only to capture the audience's eyes, but to capture their entire movement track when they participate in this work. I was interested in recontextualizing the audience participating in the performance and coming up with concepts of regularity, solemnity, oppositions and these unexpected combinations of ready-made objects; Let all the strict arrangement have a sensory dialogue with everything. I think of my art as emblematic of the traditional trash that is regarded as metaphor. I use the metaphor of these bizarre "foot sculptures" and relate them to the body of the audience, thereby reducing the critical intent of a single aspect and creating a sense of powerlessness that cannot be helped.
The above installation ideally requires a space of about 5 x 5 meters or a small room. The final installation format will depend on the space available, as it will be designed to some extent according to the site.
