DOCUMENTATION OF ARTWORKS & PROCESSES
As a comprehensive media collection, I tried a variety of exhibition possibilities, and after many sketches and model tests, I determined the work's final form.
While making these feet, I spent a lot of time in the ceramic studio and was involved in various manipulations. In addition, this section presents the research work behind performance art and video works.
Two public exhibitions at Wilson Road in July and Dilston Gallery in November were presented to record some live images and communicate with the audience.
THE RESOLVED UNIT 3 ARTWORK
At first, I tried to use balloons to replace the shape of lanterns, and its constant deformation and shrinking attribute was my conceptual demand. However, as the experiment later found that it was extremely difficult to ensure the font shape when writing with calligraphy ink on the surface of the lanterns, and the characters' recognition decreased in the continuous deformation of the balloons.
A month before the exhibition, I made two overlapping circular iron frame models, trying to relate to the concept of Yin and Yang in Taiji in calligraphy research.
Test the flicker frequency of the light and the light transmittance of the lantern.
Initial solution: A curtain is installed on the wall that slides automatically, and the video is projected on the surface and spacing of the display
Relevant plan on exhibition
SKETCH FOR PERFORMANCE ART
There was a plan to arrange a live performance art performance for 4-5 people in the exhibition space, like a ceremony. Expect the picture to look like the sketch

THE SUPPORT WORKS OF UNIT 3
WEAK FEET......
porcelain
Make a base plaster model according to the copper foot, which is convenient to make the base shape of the ceramic foot later.
Removed from the mold and not yet finished
After the first firing, a textured glaze is applied and then a spray glaze is applied
GLAZED 01
According to the need of the pattern, the red 1260 degree high temperature glaze on the surface of the fired plain embryo
GLAZED 02
After the first red glaze dries, put the feet into the high temperature texture glaze of 1260, soak for 2-3 seconds and take it out quickly, as shown in the picture above
TEST THE GLAZE EFFECT
I made four attempts based on what I guessed would be the glaze effect.
I wanted it to feel like blood oozing from the inside of the foot.
THE FINISHED PRODUCT
Obviously, after the test, I think there is a big difference between the three kinds of feet at the far end and the result I imagined. The large area of red glaze cannot be well compatible with the texture glaze on the surface, and the mixed color cannot reach the texture I want.
Calligraphy on Lantern
Copy the entire Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China in calligraphy (now included in the Civil Code of the People's Republic of China)
Storyboard
A new sketch of the story line was redrawn during this production.
I needed the people(me) in the video to echo the lanterns outside, so I re-did a lot of effects and editing work.
